Lectures
Week 1:
Sir went through the MIB explaining in details what we tasks are assigned and
expected of us within the designated timeline. Mr. Kamal also went through an
showed us some examples from the past seniors' work for each task so we have
an idea of overview what he expects to see when we eventually approach that
stage.
Week 2:
I was absent for today's lecture and tutorials as I'm not in the best
condition to attend. So, I tried to refer to the online recording as sir had
instructed.
Sir mentioned that we could apply the stretch and squash principle to botht
the feather and the ball so they will sync well.
Took some pictures of sir demonstrating how we could work on exercise 2 and
how we could make it smooth.
week 4
Dont make a too complicated character that makes it poorly design. should be likable and interesting design. Use a variety of shapes, keep it simple as we are going to redraw a hundred of times.

Exercises
Exercise 1: Bouncing Ball Animation
F5: Inset Frame
Shift + F5: Delete Frame
Following the recorded lecture, I did about 30 frames to prepare the animation with.
Following the recorded lecture, I did about 30 frames to prepare the animation with.
1.1 Floor
1.2 Arc
First I lay down the floor and map out the arc angle so roughly see how i want
the ball to bounce off and how curve it would be. I did both of these in 2
different layers.
1.3 Drawing ball
1.4 Placing ball
Then I draw a ball using the eclipse tool and carefully placed the ball in
each arc intersection to eyeball and see where they would drop. While drawing
the arc, I made sure the arc size becomes gradually smaller so the ball would
stop bouncing realistically.
Colour > Alpha > Reduce opacity (for the arc layer)
1.5 In between the point and intersection
Here I'm just doing placing the ball on the top point of each arc with the
onion skin on. Placing in between the bottom intersection and the top arc
point to make the animation look more smooth and less choppy adding layers as
I go.
1.6 Fade in fade out
This part im just doing the fade in and fade out for each point of the arc so
that the bouncing look more realistic.
1.7 Roll out
AT the last bit, I wanted to make it seem like the ball slowly roll after it
comes to a stop from bouncing which i added a few more frames with onion skin
on to estimate the smoothness and speed of the rolling.

Exercise 2: Bouncing Ball with Tail Animation
2.1 Using pencil tool and experimenting
I took a few pictures from when sir ws demonstrating how to we could use the
brush tool to draw the tail of the ball. Then he also mention we could use the
pen tool to make it seem more consistent. whiach in my casei figured i could
use the pencil tool to draw the tails which i did.
2.2 Experimenting with stretch and squash
I drew a default tail and then apply the squash ad stretch principle as the
ball was landing, falling and boucing up. Sir, mentioned we could use the arc
as a guideline so we could draw our tail accordingly. I put on the onion skin
along the way so i could refer back to the degree of streach and point the
angle better with the free transform tool.
2.3 Transition from one arc to another
With the same principle I applied to these frames as well but soon find out
that i can use the eraser tool and brush tool to fix the shape of the tail as
it bounces as well. It is also here where i found out the pencil tool works
different as the one in illustrator so I had to improvise with the brush and
eraser.
2.4 Free transfrom tool
As the arc gets smaller, the curve of the tail is less advanced so I changed
accordingly.
2.5 Last arc and rolling

Feedback
Week 3:
General feeback: We should make sure we apply the squash and stretch principle realistically, do not make it too exaggerated.
General feeback: We should make sure we apply the squash and stretch principle realistically, do not make it too exaggerated.
Personal feedback: For exercise 1, movement wise looks fine, the
first arc couls be higher. Can add fill to the ball, change the stroke and
the fill the same colour.
Week 4:
Personal Feedback: The ball shape shouldnt change without impact, so i should only squash when it touches the floor. Should widen the ball more when it touches the ground. Make sure all my frames are 2 by 2.
Reflection
Exercise 1: Bouncing ball animation
Unfortunately, when sir is giving tutorial and lecture I wasn't feeling well
enough to attend the physical class and can only refer back to the
recording. I admit that watching and following the tutorial was a little
difficult to understand a little time consuming so I figure maybe asking a
close friend who attended the class would help and it surely did. Wanqing
was so clear with the explaining and she was so patient to repeat herself
and I didn't understand some parts which i am utmost grateful for. With her
guidance and the lecture i watched beforehand, we manage to finish the task
within an 45 minutes. Overall, from this task, it was fun to experience
first hand we're actually doing the practical animation and watching the
preview as we progress.
Exercise 2: Bouncing ball with tails animation
For this task I found it important to have the previous animation smooth
before moving on to applying the stretch and squash. Which we have been
asked to apply it to only the boucing ball without the tails first. It was
important to not exagerrate the movement and not overdo, apply the degree of
stretch and squash slowly and not rush it. Later on, I apply the same
principle to the tail but also i need to pay attention to the drag, follow
trough and overlapping so it makes sense overall. I find the screenshots i
took from the lecturer's demonstration extremely helpful.
