Project 3: Concept Presentation
For this final phase, our group decided to consolidate the information
gathered from Tasks 1 and 2 and finalize key deliverables, including the
character turnaround sheets, layout designs, and other essential components.
Additionally, for Task 3, we will focus on developing animatics, conducting
technical testing, and creating pose and expression sheets for the
characters. To enhance efficiency and maintain productivity, we have
delegated these tasks among team members accordingly ro complete in a week's
time.
Task delegation:
- Poses & expressions: Adriena
- Animatics: Han + ChaoRan + whoever finishes frst
- Testing: Wan Qing
Characters poses sheet
While my other teammates are working on their parts, I swiftly started my
part as well which i started off with the characters poses sheets first. We
came up with the sketches for each character and I had to redo the lineart
as well as colour the characters accordingly.

Character expression sheet
After completing my initial tasks, Wanqing and I found ourselves with a bit
more time compared to the team members who were still actively working on
the animatics. To make the most of our time and contribute further to the
project, we took the initiative to start compiling the key information we
had gathered and began designing the final presentation slides. This allowed
us to streamline the content, organize our research effectively, and ensure
that the final presentation would clearly communicate our design process,
findings, and outcomes.
On Thursday, we had a presentation where we showcased our progress, including the animatics we had developed up to that point. Both lecturers provided valuable feedback and constructive advice on how we could further improve our work. They offered insights on refining our animatics, enhancing the flow of the scenes, and making the transitions smoother. Additionally, they encouraged us to consider possible adjustments in our overall approach, such as exploring the option of converting some elements into fully 3D to enhance visual depth and impact. This feedback gave us new perspectives on how to elevate the project and helped us identify areas as well as suggests some existing succesful films where we could make meaningful improvements moving forward.
Animatics
Following the presentation, as we approached the project deadline, I decided to assist the team members working on the animatics by picking up where they had left off. However, due to time constraints, my ability to contribute was somewhat limited, as I was only able to offer support during the final two days before submission. Nevertheless, I made the most of the time available and focused on contributing effectively. Through this effort, I successfully completed one of the storyboard sequences, helping to ease the workload and ensure that we stayed on track for submission.

Feedback
Week 7 / Task 2 & 3
- Can shorten some of the scene
- Showcase the unique point of our character better in the first few scenes
- Go watch Spookiz, it is a good 3D animation
- Can consider changing it into completely 3D; if going for 2D, need to be dynamic
- 3D (can trick for some scenes), explore it
- Play more with perspective (Storyboard)
- Needs to be solid to our demographic
- Solidify it
- We need to find more reference
- study the effects and wow factors
Reflection
Through completing the tasks for Week 7, I learned the importance of time management, collaboration, and adaptability when working in a fast-paced team environment. By focusing on the character pose and expression sheets, I improved my technical skills in lineart refinement, color application, and maintaining consistency across multiple characters. Additionally, contributing to the final presentation slides allowed me to enhance my ability to organize and present information clearly and effectively. Supporting the animatics team towards the end of the week taught me how to step in and assist where needed, even under tight deadlines. Most importantly, the feedback we received helped me understand the significance of visual storytelling, using dynamic perspectives, and considering different formats such as 3D to enhance the impact of our work. I also realized the value of studying successful references and constantly refining our approach to better appeal to our target demographic.
