Lectures

Contact pose:
Steps we add 1 unit, the hip add 0.5 unit.
Remember to change each of the foot angle to -30 or 30 degrees.

Down pose:
2nd frame - go back to the 1st frame to mark the tip of your foot with the 3D cursor (shift + right click). Once marked, go back to the 2nd frame and set the back rotation to 0 degrees and select the foot control and rotate so that the tip touches the 3D cursor. Remember to lower the hip as well.

Adding repeat on path offset:
Select the controls that you animated, figure out which line the animation is on, location/ rotation (X,Y, Z). If i cant the animation line, I have to select the (X, Y, Z) and go to view > frame selected. Then go to modifiers tab add modifier > cycle > repeat offset path.

Instructions

Project 1

For this project, we are required to animate a walk cycle that consist of both the vanilla walk and the attitude walk with post to pose. We are to pose each frame consistently with even timing as sir demonstrated in class in the recorded lecture notes above.

Vanilla Walk

We were being demonstrated how to do the Vanilla walk in class where sir explains how to position, rotate and keyframe each pose while keeping taps on the timing. At the end of posing the body and legs, I posed and swing the character's arms and ensure that they look more natural with the graph.

Attitude Walk

For the attitude walk, i tried to make a prideful walk of the character and perked up his shoulders and straighten up his spine a little with the FK controls to make his chest area open up like he is a proud person. For the legs, i made each of the poses a little more dramatic than the normal walk with larger steps.

Feedback

Week 11: The normal walk looks fine, just need to refine the hand movement a little.

Reflection

During this project, I faced some challenges as I was traveling and had to rush my work. The normal walk was manageable since we had practiced it in class during the demonstration. However, I encountered issues with the attitude walk when applying modifiers to the animation. Typically, we use the "repeat with offset" modifier on the joint and adjust it according to the graph. But in my case, certain parts of the character moved significantly slower than others, causing distortions.

I sought help from Sir to resolve the issue, but unfortunately, he couldn’t figure out a solution either. As a result, I had to redo the entire walk animation. Despite my efforts, the same problem persisted, leaving me feeling stuck. Since I couldn’t find any tutorials online to address the issue, I eventually resorted to manually repeating the animation after exporting it.
